History of laughter yoga
Many individuals have contributed to the history of modern therapeutic laughter, these include Norman Cousins, Dr William F. Fry and Dr Lee Berk and Dr Hunter(Patch) Adams.
In 1995 Dr Madan Kataria medical doctor in Mumbai, India was writing an article "laughter - the best medicine" for a health journal. He discovered through his research the proven benefits of laughter on the human mind and body.
In 1995 7am he went to the local park and pursuade 4 people to go with him to start a 'Laughter Club' Within afew days 50 participants in the initial meetings they would stand in a circle and one person would go the middle and tell a joke or funny story. He did some research and eventually came up with childlike playfulness and pranayama breathing and The Laughter Club Movement was born

What is Laughter Yoga?
Laughter yoga is unique exercise combines unconditional laughter with yogic breathing. Anyone can laugh with relying on humour, jokes or comedy. Laughter is initially simulated as physical exercise while maintaining eye contact with others in the group and promoting childlike playfulness. In most cases this soon leads to real contagious laughter. The body cannot differentiate between real or fake laughter.
